Free Chick-fil-A tomorrow!
If you live in the Triangle area, you can get yourself some free chicken tomorrow!
And you'll be helping out the Raleigh and Durham Rescue Missions. What's better than that?

Birthday Boy, part 2.
As if a weekend with the family wasn't enough, Sam has been living like a king this week!

On Sunday we had lunch at Aunt Step's and Uncle Ken. Steph completely spoiled us with the most delicious homemade chicken enchiladas and some yummy cookies from a local deli. And then, because Sam is so cute and asked so nicely, we let him spend the whole afternoon with the auntie and uncle.
On Tuesday night we did something really spontaneous and went to the fair for supper. Yes, you heard correctly! Sam had a corn dog and fries, Charlotte had fries, and Tim and I had ham biscuits from the Apex Lions Club. And then we all shared a ginormous cinnamon-covered elephant ear. And we bought a bag of kettle corn the size of Charlotte for the ride home (we're not even halfway through it- I'm actually eating a bowl of it right now!). Sam was a little bummed that we didn't get to go on the rides, but we are saving that for our trip back this weekend.
And last night was what I consider the bookend to the start of our summer. The National Champion Durham Bulls hosted a party of sorts for fans, and of course we were there. We were able to walk through the locker room and have our picture taken with the
trophies the team won for being league and national champs. And then we enjoyed some free hot dogs and Sam and Tim got to play catch on the field. We had a great time, and it was a wonderful way to close out the season.
Today was the day that Sam's class at school celebrated his birthday. I made some yummy cupcakes and Sam assured me that the kids enjoyed them.
He also got to dress up as a Durham Bulls baseball player, because today was Trunk or Treat (where some of the moms decorate their cars and hand out candy in the parking lot). So Sam had a busy and fun day at school, too! We met Mimi for lunch afterwards, and now both kids are napping. Sigh.
The fun is still not over... we have more fun stuff planned for tomorrow, the big day itself. See you then!

Birthday Boy, part 1.
Almost two weeks ago, Sam's Regular Nana and Papa came to visit, along with Uncle Jeffrey and Papa Bill and Nana Tookie. And since Aunt Steph and Uncle Ken live here, we had a great time and a party to boot!

Sam asked for pizza and a colorful cake, and we obliged.(The top of the cake cracked overnight- probably from the weight of all the food dye.)

There were lots of great gifts- Lincoln Logs, a new aquarium with two fish, Fisher-Price version of the Wii for kids, and the much anticipated "brown Tow Mater" as well as some other Cars cars.

We also took Sam's birthday money and bough him some sweet new shoes. He has been asking for some "tie shoes" for a while now, so we let him pick them out. Of course he picked the most expensive pair in the store, but it was his money and his pick.
We did take advantage of having everyone in town (minus Tim's other set of grandparents), and had Liz take a family picture.

We had a wonderful weekend, and much to Sam's delight, it was just the beginning!

In one week...
...my first baby will be four years old. I can't even believe it. This afternoon, as we were sitting at the table drinking cocoa, I was thinking just how neat it is to have this little guy as our son. He is so funny and smart, and golly is he handsome!

So to kick off the birthday week I thought I would share a picture or two with you. We have a big week planned, so stay tuned!
(These pics were taken by our friend, and Mycah's aunt, Liz. Thanks Liz!)

Reason #4,387 why my husband is the best:
Tonight Tim could have been at the "Manly Event" at church, entitled "Faith, Family & Fishing."
Instead, he escorted me to Morrisville and took my picture beside my Mary Kay unit's first pink Cadillac. And then he sat through two hours of Mary Kay fun.
Thank you baby, for supporting me, my business and our family. You are the best!
